As if the rumour that Castle Crashers may cost a hefty 1800 Microsoft Points wasn't bad enough, it seems that Australian Xbox owners are being excluded from Microsoft's huge promotional push to support its current Arcade line-up.
The "Summer of Arcade" competition boasts an insane 100,000 Microsoft Points, 12-month Gold subscription to Xbox Live and an Xbox 360 Elite as its major prize, with two second-place prizes of 10,000 points and weekly prizes of 4,000 points to boot.
Of course, a quick glance at the fine print lets you know that the festivities are only open to those in the USA, Canada, the UK, France and Germany. The obvious answer to the Aussie snub is that it "isn't summer here, duh", but okay smartypants, tell me why is there no alternate competition for avid Xboxing nations currently shivering in their ugg-boots?
How hard is it to rustle up a couple of 4,000 point cards to give away to your loyal Australian fanbase, Microsoft? Hell, I'm sure most winners would happily take a release date for Rock Band instead if you can get it...
Rest assured we'll be contacting Microsoft Australia to ask then what's up!
[UPDATE] Word from Microsoft is that in a surprising move, they'll be marketing it as "Winter of Arcade" here. Oh, and that there'll be no prize sweepstakes or giveaways to coincide with it. Awesome!
